These batteries are collected from various drop-off points across Quebec. Following a rigorous process, the batteries are then sorted by chemical composition: zinc, cadmium, cobalt, lead, nickel, and lithium.<\/p><p data-start=\"477\" data-end=\"829\">Alkaline batteries are crushed and filtered according to material types to recover each category of material. Some materials are directly used to produce post-consumer products, while others are responsibly disposed of.
